It was a calm morning. Veronica had just finished her run and stepped into a quiet alley to catch her breath when three motorcycles roared in and blocked her path. Three tattooed men surrounded her, eyeing her phone, watch, and gold chain.

“Hand it over,” the leader sneered. “No one’s here to help you.”

They closed in, laughing, certain she was scared and alone.

“Or what?” Veronica asked steadily.

They mocked her. One reached toward her shoulder.

Then she smiled.

“Do you really think this is a good idea?”

Before they could react, two tall men in black stepped from the shadows behind her — calm, silent, unmistakably professional.

“Problems?” one asked.

“Not anymore,” Veronica replied.
