Vag#nal mucus (fluid) is a secretion secreted by the cervix and walls of the vag#na. Its most important characteristics are texture, color, and odor, which vary from woman to woman. In a healthy body, the discharge is watery, slightly sticky, and resembles raw egg white in appearance and color.
Why can drafts leave stains on underwear?
This is normal โ all women get discharge that stains their underwear in various shades of white. The most watery discharge is clear or milky. When it dries, the liquid part evaporates, leaving a whitish or yellowish coating that can harden. The discharge is completely normal if:
There is no or only a slightly salty smell .
It is not accompanied by burning or itching .
(If you have these symptoms, see a doctor to check your health.)
Composition of vag#nal discharge
All mucous membranes need moisture. The health of the vag#na is maintained thanks to a thick layer of secretion, composed of:
Secretions or mucus produced by the cervix, endometrium, and Bartholin glands.
Dead cells from the columnar epithelium of the cervix and from the vag#nal epithelium.
Fluid that passes through the walls of blood vessels supplying the reproductive organs.
A large amount of bacteria colonizing the vag#na.
Secretions from the sebaceous and sweat glands at the entrance to the vulva.
In short, discharge is made up mainly of mucus, water, and cells that are normally present in the body. It is a natural phenomenon, just as normal as saliva in the mouth.
